HMK JP-MM Dictionary — Privacy Policy
1. Summary
HMK JP-MM Dictionary is a free Japanese–Myanmar–English dictionary. You do not need an account, and the developer does not collect your personal information. Your favourites, history, own words, study progress and settings are stored only on your device. The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which may process some device data as described below.
2. Data stored only on your device
- Favourite words, recently viewed words and words you add yourself
- Flashcard and quiz progress (study level, review schedule, streak)
- Settings: language, theme, colour, text size, daily reminder time
This data is never sent to the developer or to anyone else. You can delete it at any time by clearing the app’s data (Android Settings → Apps → HMK JP-MM Dictionary → Storage → Clear data) or by uninstalling the app.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows banner ads and app open ads provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect and process information such as your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, device and app information, and how you interact with ads.
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google’s consent form (User Messaging Platform) before personalised ads are shown.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Learn more: How Google uses information from apps that use its services · AdMob and privacy · Google Privacy Policy.
4. Dictionary updates
To correct mistakes in the dictionary without an app update, the app regularly downloads a small update file. No personal information is sent with this request.
5. E-mails you choose to send
“Report a mistake” and “Send feedback” open your own e-mail app. An e-mail is sent only if you send it yourself. It contains what you write plus, to help fix the problem, the word ID, the app version, your device model, Android version and app language. These e-mails are used only to answer you and improve the dictionary, and are not shared with anyone.
6. Other features
- Pronunciation (text-to-speech) uses the speech engine installed on your device. The app does not send the words to the developer; the speech engine’s own privacy policy applies.
- Daily word reminder is a notification scheduled on your device. It is off unless you turn it on, and Android asks for your permission.
- Home-screen widget shows the word of the day using data on your device.
7. Permissions
